This patient attended an in-person consultation with Dr. Ball in March 2024 to discuss options for restoring his hairline and increasing coverage through the frontal half of his scalp. While less concerned with his crown, he was interested in understanding his options for a second procedure in that area. At the time of the consultation, he had not tried any medications or non-surgical treatments for his hair loss. As with all consultations, Dr. Ball discussed the available options with him.
He decided to book his procedure with The Maitland Clinic and began a regimen of oral finasteride 1 mg daily and topical minoxidil 5% twice a day. The photos show results from three months of use of finasteride and minoxidil before undergoing any hair transplant procedure. These results demonstrate the potential effectiveness of these treatments for the right patient. His lateral humps have thickened, and his crown has shown significant improvement. Further improvements may continue over the next 12 months. However, Dr. Ball emphasizes that, while these results are impressive, they may not be permanent, so a cautious approach to any surgical procedure is recommended. We look forward to documenting the results of his surgery upon his return to the clinic.
