Case Overview – 3114 grafts FUE Hair Transplant by Dr. Shah (@shahhairclinic)
This gentleman presented to me with androgenetic alopecia affecting the frontal zone with recession extending into the anterior vertex. His primary goal was to achieve a natural and age-appropriate restoration of the frontal hairline with reinforcement through to the mid-scalp region.
Dr. Shah performed a Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) encompassing all aspects of the surgical process — from donor harvesting, recipient site incisions, and graft placement.
Procedure Details:
- Total grafts transplanted: 3,114
- Total hairs transplanted: Approximately 6,400
- Punch type and size: 0.8mm motorized punch
- Implantation technique: Manual implantation
Surgical Plan:
The hairline was designed to be natural and conservative, respecting the patient’s facial proportions and future hair loss progression. He had been taking a combination of finasteride/minoxidil prior to his surgery. A soft transition zone was established at the front using primarily single-hair grafts, with increasing density and multi-hair follicular units placed posteriorly. Graft distribution was concentrated in the frontal third and extended into the anterior vertex to create a seamless transition and improved coverage in areas of visible thinning.
Density:
An average density of 35–40 follicular units per cm² was achieved in the frontal zone, tapering slightly toward the vertex to maintain a natural appearance and optimize graft yield.
Outcome:
The patient has shown excellent progress, with full maturation of results evident at the 12-month follow-up. This gentleman is very happy with his outcome thus far, and we are pleased with his progress!
Below are comparative images taken at baseline, immediately post-operatively, and at 12 months post-procedure.
